Running thru life.... I almost lost my brain

Thursday night my brain stopped functioning...
I dropped my ipad- in its protective case that I purchased and it happen- the only place not protected- the volume button got a huge dent in it.
OMG!
I was in tears!
I could not change the volume at all and worse the volume icon was stuck on the screen.
Talk about panic attack.

Joe always gives me a hard time because the ipad has really become my brain- it has my life, my work, everything on it from calendars, to phone list, to work schedules.    I find it hard to function without it like I had to do Friday Morning.

I immediately turned to the internet and had Joe (my awesome husband) call the Apple store in FairOaks mall.  He schedule an appointment for Friday at 2 pm because he was only working a half day.

Thursday night I laid awake in bed contemplating what I was going to do-
1) Pay a butt load for them to fix
2) Get a new one.
3) Live with the constant think on the screen and no working volume button

I slept terrible and woke up with a terrible headache Friday morning.
I headed to work and tried to remain optimistic.
I even called my insurance company from work to find out if it was covered under our homeowners insurance.  Nope-  I can add a policy- which I now might do!

So at 2:15 my hubby called and told me he had some bad new and some good news.
Bad news it is $300 to repair.... OMG!!!!!!
I am thinking in my head- well there goes the new rug, my new work shoes, dinner out, and the Christmas Presents I was going to buy this weekend!

Good news:  They are waving the fee and he is walking out of the store with a new Ipad.

It is an Ipad Miracle.
All these years I have been skeptical of Apple...
But you proved me wrong!

Thank you Apple for giving me back my brain!

Running thru life.... Origins

I am always on the lookout for good pregnancy books.
I was talking with my patient the other day about how much we both hated "What to expect when you are expecting," and she was telling me about some books she was currently reading.

One was entitled
"Origins: How Nine Months Before Birth Shape the Rest of Our Lives"

So going home that night I read the reviews on-line and added to my list of books to pick up.
I starting reading it on a Monday and finished the following Monday.
I love it!

It talks about every aspect women face while they are pregnant- diet, environment, stressors.
It is extremely well written, easy read and had a great deal of knowledge base studies to support their theories.  After reading this book, it just put more importance on how your nine months of pregnancy and how you take care of yourself- phyiscally, mentally, etc really do have an impact on you and your child.

Totally love this book....

Next Book:
Work Related:  Get Me Out: A History of Childbirth from the Garden of Eden to the Sperm Bank
Fun:  The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven

Running thru life.... Reading on the Run

The other day I saw a woman running holding an kindle and reading.
My husband immediately looked at me and I started laughing.

How on earth could she do this and look at the road?
This was mind boggling to me!
I can read on the treadmill but that is a little different than running outside!
So this got me to thinking about using my ipad more for reading.
I hate paying for books but I HATE going to the Fairfax Library primarily because it is downtown Fairfax which always involved traffic and the parking garage and then them not have the books I am interested in.

So I started to look on the Fairfax County Library website and was delighted to find E-Books!!!
I signed up and downloaded my first book "Battle Hymn of Tiger Mom."

I read it while I was in St Augustine which was awesome because
I did not have to travel with book just my ipad.
Right now I am reading "The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven."

The process is kind of an interesting one- they only have so many electronic copies of book so you only get it for 1 month and sometimes you have to be on a waiting list for it to become available.
When it becomes available you get an email directing you to the site.
So far I am definitely a fan-
while I do miss holding a book I do not miss paying for books or driving to the painful library!

Happy Running/Reading

Running thru life.... Maybe I am rubbing off...

For those who know me I like being organized, prepared, everything has its place, etc.
Joe reminds me of the time he lived with me in Baltimore for a summer and my remote controls I placed in a particular order, and my shoes had to stay in their boxes when they are not being used (to be honest this keeps the looking new in my opinion).
I am the clean one and my hubby is the messy one.
He has come a long way in the last couple years of living together but there remains one place is the house that is a disaster- his closet.

Thank GOD we have our own closets.
At first I thought this was a luxury but now I know it is needed for our marriage.

He closet looks like a tornado hit it- and most of the time I do not care because I can just close the door.
So I was very surprised to come home after my girls trip and have my husband ask about making some purchases at the Container Store to help organize his closet- i think I almost had a heart attack!

He requested the following....
Bin for my closet to fit misc items in.
 Shoe Hanger
This one actually is big enough to fit both of men's shoes in one section.
This can't be said for all of these hangers.

Sweater Hanger
To put his shirt/sweater in

 Tie Rack
So Joe should have one of these but he doesn't .

Normally I would not splurge on items like this but since my husband really never asks for anything especially that has to help with organization- so I am in!
So we headed to the container store and left with a huge bag.
I even purchased a shoe hanger for myself.
I have some shoes that do not have actual boxes such as sandles or shoe boxes that have been lost to Clemson Puppy.

Pictures of my old closet

New Closet.

So happy.....
I think I am going to go purchase some more bins.
Joe's is still a work in progress....
I am actually probably going to go buy him another sweater rack.
I will post pictures when I am finally done!

So maybe I am rubbing off on my hubby

Running thru life... The Ultimate Spa Experience

For my friend's 30th birthday I wanted to do something fun and nice for her.
She was my maid of honor and always spoils me rotten as a friend!
So it was my turn!

We decided to head to St Augustine, Fl for a long weekend at my parent's condo.
I started to look for ideas as what to do for her 30th- and i found the perfect solution!
A SPA DAY!
We both work way to much and do not get a chance to relax so I thought this would be perfect.
I started looking into spas and selected the Ponte Vedra Spa becuase of it reputiation.

I selected Ponte Vedra because it was absolutely gorgeous, had the spa treatments I wanted for us, and was tailored for us to spend the entire day there with lunch.
I did not let me friend know what we were doing.
I told her friday night to pack a book, bath suit/coverup and sunglasses.

We got up Saturday morning, made a quick stop at Dunkin Donuts to get much needed coffee
and then headed out.
After about 30 minute drive we arrived....

We were greeted and ushered into the locker room......

We then went and sat in the waiting room for our massages...
Heavenly....

The relaxed poolside soaking up some sun with lunch and drinks!

I totally would do this again-
considering we both had spa treatments which were heavenly, lunch which was yummy,
and then spent the whole day there.
It was totally an experience.
It was quiet, not busy.
We arrived at 10 am and left around 4:30 pm.

An absolutely perfect day to spend your 30th birthday

Running thru life.... Number 5 Baby!!!

This football season has so far being an amazing one in our house.
We were able to witness an amazing game in Death Valley with some of our closest friends.

Clemson today is ranked number 5!
Number 5!
That is amazing considering how bad we were last years.

As you know- I love Clemson for many reason because it got me ready for life and helped me make some amazing friend and gave me some amazing experieces along the way.

So in keeping with #5.
Our pumpkin this year is dedicated to the Clemson Tigers!!!

I started by printing out a tiger pay and taping it to the pumpkin.

The I went to work on cutting each piece.
This was super easy- less than 15 minutes.

End Product.....

Notice that our pumpkin does has the signiture hook in the paw!!

 Go tigers!!!
