Running thru life.... JcPenny's does furniture!!!!

Now that we have cleared the old office furniture out of the back room in the basement and moved Joe's office/study room into the guest room, I was left with wanting an area for me to do bills, blog, etc.
I had been sharing the desk that Joe uses but with school starting up again, I knew I needed to come up with another soluation.  I wanted my own desk!
I knew I wanted to put my little area in our bedroom for convenience.
I had been looking for a very small desk because we were limited where we could place it the bedroom.
It also had to be black to match the other furniture.
I looked at target, homegoods, walmart, Ikea..... nothing.
After 3 months- I thought I was going to give up.

Then one day one of my patients was telling me about them buying their crib from JcPenny's and I was intrigued.  So I got online and started looking at their furniture.
I hit the jackpot!!!!
Perfect small
black
on sale
free shipping
and I was even able to find on online coupon that they honored.
So originally priced at $199 down to $99 + free shipping +15% coupon+ tax = 90$ spent.
In had all good reviews- I was sold.

It arrived 4 days later and took me all of 5 minutes to put together.
It was too easy to put together!
It is solid wood and I just love it.

I still needed to find a chair.
I wanted something very small and that kept with out room theme.
I started looking on the internet and the chairs I like were out of the budget.
So I headed to homegoods just to get some ideas.

And I came home with this.....

It is a vanity chair- but it works perfectly and fits right in with our iron bed!
So happy to have a work space that is mine

Running thru life... Traveling Bucket List

Joe and I love to travel.
We love to experience other cultures, and do things that we never thought we would.
Like swim in the Aegan sea!
Over the years we have come up with a traveling bucket list of sorts.
However, each year we take one off... I think we add three more.
Just this year we added Machu Picchu, Giverny France, and South Africa.

Off the list is Greece, Madeira, Mexico, Napa, and London (later this year.)

Alaska
Australia and New Zealand
Bermuda
Greece- Santorini
Hawaii
Ireland
Tour of Italy
London  (later this year!)
Machu Picchu
Madeira, Portugal
Mexico
Napa Valley
Paris, France
Giverny, France
Rio, Brazil
South Africa
Spain
Thailand

Effective 2012,  Hawaii will also be off the list.
I offically made our reservations for 2012 for Maui!!!!

We decided instead of birthday partys or gifts for our 30th birthdays in 2012...
we would just go to Hawaii instead =0)
After our Greece and London trips we will be ready to hang out in one place.
We will be flying Alaskan Airlines...
Staying at the Honua Kai in a condo we are renting for a week.
SPECIAL NOTE:  Condos are about 1/2 the price or more of a hotel room!!! OMG!
I was fortunate to find one on trip advisor with excellent reviews and the owner has been most pleasant to reponding to all of my questions- this might be because he is a Nurse Anesthesist and was exited to find out that I am a miwife- but none the less I have been happy thus far.
So excited!!!

Now... I just have to figure what place will be next.  =0)

Running thru life... Snickers Cookies

Before we headed out to Wolf Trap, we each chose
to bring something for the meal.
I took dessert.
Both of our neighbors that we went with are pregnant and
one of them is in love with Snickers so after hearing that my hubby put in a request for something with Snickers.  Knowing that last week stunk and I had very little time to make good dessert- I started searching the internet.
I was limited to try to avoid as much dairy as possible due to one of the members that would be at the concert with us and it must be something that was easy!.
I came upon this blog- Snicker's Cookies.
Basically, peanut butter cookies with a mini snickers in the middle and snickers on top- OMG!

After reading and looking at the step by step pictures/instructions I decided to give it a whirl.

I followed the instructions and the results were amazing.
I will definitely use this recipe again because it was easy and also fun!!
Enjoy!

Running thru life... Quotes to spend some time with

This weekend I took on a bathroom painting adventure which will be a future blog.
After finishing, Joe and I decided that the art work we had in there previous was just not what we wanted any more.

So we started thinking about what we could place in there....
Art work
Pictures
Decals

We turned to the idea of decals because it is not something we have done in our house and it something that I have wanted to do so this would be a good way to experiment.

That being said I went to the internet searching for a couple quotes that I personally love......
I figured quotes would be good mentally while you are in the bathroom doing whatever men do that takes so long...

So here are some of our options

The road less traveled by.... by Robert Frost
This is my favorite poem for may reasons.
The walls are red so we are thinking of having it done in a white...

  Or....
The Moments of life....
Of course my husband would find humor putting this in a bathroom for reasons I will not mention.

or
(it will not let me copy the picture because of a copyright!!)

So what are your thoughts.....
I am having a hard time deciding....

Running thru life... GOOD LUCK

Right now my hubby is sitting in his PhD qualifier!
Nerves having been on high for about two weeks.

I totally understand as I have had to take a similar test like this twice-
once for my RN and then again for my CNM.

So todays blog is short and sweet:
GOOD LUCK!!!
Just remember you are smart and you will do well.
And always pick answer C (nerd joke!)

Love you

Running thru Life... Fun at Wolf Trap

Being together a couple years now Joe and I have some traditions- most of them revolve around the holidays but there are a couple that are very near and dear to us.
One of the top ones being the Gipsy Kings Concert every summer.

It was more than 6 years ago that Joe and I had our first date.
Chipotle followed by the Gipsy Kings Concert.

This was a date Joe planned and I just went along for the ride.
It was so much fun.

As a result we have  been to see the Gipsy Kings every summer since.
Sometimes it has just been the two of us but over the years we have multiple people join us.

2005-Chipotle and Gipsy Kings in Baltimore
2006-Gipsy Kings at Wolf Trap on the Lawn- just the two of us.
2007-Gipsy Kings at Wolf Trap on the Lawn- my mom and me- Joe had a last minute business trip- he was there in spirit
2008-Gipsy Kings at Wolf Trap on the Lawn- Me, Joe and My mom
2009-Gipsy Kings at Wolf Trap on the Lawn- Neighbors in tow
2010-Gipsy Kings at Wolf Trap on the Lawn- Neighbors in tow
2011-Gipsy Kings at Wolf Trap on the Lawn- Lots of neighbors in tow

Last night we headed out to see them for our 7th time!!!
We had blanket, picnic baskets, and yummy food in tow.
I will be blogging later about a new recipe I tried.
We had a great time and great company.

So we will wait till next Feb/March for Wolf Trap to release next summers dates.
=)
