Running thru life... A freebie

In the mail this week I received a coupon for a free 12 oz McDonald's Frozen Strawberry Lemonade.
I love frozen lemonade- it is one of my most favorite summer time splurges.
So I was actually excited about trying this.
I never eat at McDonald's... but this was worth trying.

So I decided to give it a whirl!!
I pulled up to the drive thru and ordered, handed them my coupon and drove off.
Here is my review-
I am glad I did not pay money for this.
It is not sweet but almost bitter.
More strawberry syrup than lemons.
I took a couple sips and then put the rest down the sink.
So sometime free does not always pay..... but at least I did not pay for this!!!

What is your favorite summer time treat??

Running thru life... Pinkberry

Last fall a Pinkberry opened up at Fairfax Corner.
I was a little hesitate to be honest because it is a little pricey.

I walked up there with one of my friend while she was visit from the UK (with her hubby also)
and we decided to give it a whirl.

This is all I have to say .... YUMMMYYY!!

So what is pinkberry- it is a frozen yogurt meca.
I call it a mecca because they offer a variety of flavors-
almost 6 total at any time and then they offer a huge variety of toppings including fruit.
My hubby and I have been trying to make better lifestyle choices and this for me includes my sweets.  However, when I walk into PinkBerry I do not have to feel guilt
about getting a small Lychee Yogurt with Raspberries and Kiwi.
At 110 calories with no fat, no saturate fat, less than 5 mg of cholesterol with
about 10% of my daily calcium needs and 3gm of protein- I am sold.

The other nice thing is they do have a frequent flyer punch card.  I have only been there twice so far and I already have 5 punches.  10 punches and I get one free.
The pricing comes in around $5 for a small which actually is too much for me to each so I took it home and placed the rest in the freezer and had it for a snack the next day.  So for two snacks $5 is not that bad.  There is a smaller size but it is almost too small.

Happy Yogurt!!!

Running thru life... Cupcakes Actually

Another store located in Fairfax Corner which I love... probably a little too much is
Cupcakes Actually.

Cupcakes Actually is a cupcake boutique!

The have the most amazing cupcakes and wait for it.... wait for it....
They have gluten free cupcakes.
This is a huge selling point for me because my in-laws have gluten allergy.
So it always nice find a bakery that makes gluten free products.

Their cupcake selection varies day to day.
They alway offer about 7-10 types a day.
My favorite is the Actually Dipped Peanut Butter- aka "Go directly to hell."  It is so good.
These cupcakes are so good but they are only a special treat.

They have become my running treat
After my first 10 miler the Cherry Blossom - we headed to Cupcakes Actually
After my second 10 miler the Army 10 miles- we headed to Cupcakes Actually
After my half marathon- we headed to Cupcakes Actually.
=0)  It is now tradition!

The cupcakes themselves range in price- anywhere from 3.50 to 4.50.
This is very expensive and that is why it is used as a treat.

Happy Cupcake Day!

Running thru life... CAN I GET A WAHOO!!!

WAHOO!!!!

It is official... I have my husband back!!!!
He finished his final last night
(while I was treating myself to a mani/pedi).
He pointed out that this was not fair and I told him he could go get a mani/pedi whenever he wanted.  =0)

We celebrated late last night with a little Mojitos.

I am so happy he is done with school this semester as it is been hard not having him around.  He made the decision not to take classes this summer because we both just needed a break.

SO WAHOO!!!
Here is to a summer with my hubby.
Hopefully with lots of pool time, concerts, and of course Mojitos on our new patio!!

Running thru life... One of my favorite wedding Gifts

It is almost our two year anniversary-
I can tell you almost everything that everyone gave us at our wedding.
In fact when we use something I think of the person who gave it to us.
So today I was dusting and cleaning up the house and I cleaned one of my favorite wedding gifts.
Our Vera Wang Grosgrain Wedding Frames.

We have 4 of them- I large 8x10, 2 5x7, and 1 double frame that has our
wedding picture and wedding invitation in.
These picture frames were given to me by all my bridesmaids which makes them even more special.

I love these gifts so much because we will always have them and no matter how our lives change and what pictures we put in them- I will always think about my wonderful friends.

Happy Dusting....

Running thru life... Managing a Hubby

My husband technically has two finals left.
One was last Wednesday and one next Monday.

He was notified in class two weeks ago that the professor would be
releasing their final grades as of that date.
"If you are happy with your grade you can keep that grade you have and not take the final."
My husband told me this and I was ecstatic!!!!

So he checked his computer all day last Friday for his grade... nothing
All day last Saturday... nothing.  Late Sunday night... 89.06 =  B+

This is how our conversation went....
Joe... I have a B+... I need to take the final to get an A
Me... No take the B+... it is not worth studying and possibly doing worse.  (The final is 35% of the total grade).   No one is going to care that you got a B+ instead of an A.

After going back a forth a couple times last weekend-  We got into bed last Sunday night and I turned to him and said "Ok I need to know what WE are doing... are WE taking the final or not.  Because I need to know if my husband is going to be MIA for the next week."  He looked and said.... "No."

YEAH!!!!!!
Thank you for a nice weekend and a nice week with my husband present for more than just dinner time.
So nice....
So now he just has to study for one....
He will be in the library all weekend- but he will do awesome!!
