Running thru life....Yeah for the Federal Government!!!

This morning I woke up and the first thing I did was roll over to use my droid to check the Washington Post website for the update on the Government shutdown status.

I can not believe I am saying this but... WAHOOO I get to go on work on Monday and I will also get paid!!!
Double WAHOOO!!!

With possible shutdown on the front there was a possibility of me not get my pay check next week and also having to report to work without the promise of getting paid because I am an essential personal because I am a medical provider.  Can we say stressful?  Not just for me but for everyone affected by this!

The men and women who are fighting for our great nation,or their families,  the people who work the museums down town, the women who made me my salad at work yesterday and told me to have a good weekend (with everyone stressed out of their brains- she offered smiled!)

So today my post is a toast to government workers like myself.  We often get a bad rap because alot of people view government workers as lazy, stuck in a mundan job, etc.  I am here to toast the people who work their asses off every day, work thru lunch, come in when it snows (because they are essential).
Thank you for everything you do and supporting our government and also our troops.

America is a great place to live... we need to remember that everyday!
Thank you Democrats, Republicans, Independents (whatever your liking) for working together to come to some sort of compromise (where you support it or not) to help keep our country and our citizens working.

Happy Compromise day.....

Running thru life... A rainy day.

We are fortunate to live close to DC.
Close is a relative term either a 30 minute drive or a metro ride.
So with the crazy weather we have been having lately
(serious- I AM READY FOR THE RAIN TO STOP!!!)
Joe and I headed down on the metro with some of our friends to spend a rainy day at the museums.  Because after all- they are free and a place that is dry!
(And are currently open--- however, this might change if the stupid budget does not pass---please do not get me started on this!)

We first went to the National Museum of American History.
They had a couple interesting exhibits but my favorite was the one of the First Lady.
They had dresses worn by the first ladies, stationary, etc.
It was interesting to look at the different time periods and the fashion.
My favorite was Jackie O's- I just loved her style!!!

We then headed of the National Gallery of Art.

I could spend hours here.
Inside there are flower gardens which you can just sit in and think.
Such a calming place.
I could feel my blood pressure lowering.
I got to see my favorite artist Monet and
while they did not have my favorite painting by him-
it was nice to see some of his work.

Of note---- you can not bring umbrellas into the National Gallery of Art.  Joe got in trouble and had a security guard follow him around.  So funny.

The sun ended up coming out for us to walk down to the Cherry Blossoms.
All in all it was a good day!

Running thru life....Clinique Give Away

So I previous blogged about how much I love Clinique's Moisture Surge Face Lotion and their All About Eyes De-puffing eye serum.  I normally buy this once or twice a year.
However, I always wait until either the Spring or the Fall.

Why you ask.....

Clinique's Free Give A Way at Macys!!!
When you purchase 21.50 of Clinique products you get the following:

Included in the gift is as follows
  • Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, 1oz./30ml
  • Clinique Colour Compact: You get your choice of pinks or purples
  • 2-in-1 Lipstick & Gloss Duo - Different Lipstick in Think Bronze, 1.3g/.04 OZ - Long Last Glosswear in Air Kiss, .15 FL OZ/4.5ml
  • Lash Doubling Mascara in Black, .14 OZ./4g
  • Take The Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes and Lips, 1.7 FL.OZ./50ml
  • 2 small makeup bags.
This is how I rarely spend money on mascara or eyeshadow.
It is also a nice excuse to exchange an yucky old makeup bag for a new one without have to purchase one.
So I walked in Monday to get my lotion (I still have plenty of my eye cream) and walked out with my new fun spring colors and products.

  Happy Spring

Running thru life...I have a LOFT Problem

It is official- I have a LOFT problem.
Ann Taylor LOFT that is...

I often get frustrated shopping as many women do- because very few women have the "perfect body".
Perfect body in the sense tall and thin defined by the fashion world.
I like that we are all different shapes and sizes... we as women would be boring if we were not!!!!

So I am short!  Thank you parent's genes.
For this reason- it is hard for me to find dresses, shirts, pants, and even shirts.
This is why I love the Loft.

I can walk in there- know my size and walk out.
So this week I walked it... and walked out with 5 pieces of clothing!!
Yes I know... I never buy this much.
But I actually narrowed down from the 8 pieces of clothing that looked great.

I purchased a blazer to wear with jeans or with slacks, a pair of dress jeans/slacks, a shirt for our trip to Greece which is airy and light weight, a light spring sweater, and a basic black shirt to go with anything.

I also love the Loft because things are either always on Sale or there is always a coupon.

This week they are having the 30 % off everything.  Which makes a big difference espeically when I am buying 5 pieces of clothing.

So if you need a couple new looks for Spring check out the Loft and save 30 % this week!!

Running thru life... Macys New York

While in NYC, my mom headed to Macys and we were in for a surprise.
It was the yearly Flower Show.
Fresh flowers in these elaborate designs.
It was amazing!!!!

Not only were the flowers amazing but Macy's itself was amazing.
It is made up of two stores- both with 7 stories...
It took my mom and I almost 4 hours... and some could spend the whole day in there...

Running thru life... a Nice Surprise in Central Park

Last weekend I went to New York with my mother for a much needed girls weekend.
We had a great time with a few challenges, a lot of fun, and a nice surprise in Central Park.
On Sunday morning, my mom and I decided to catch the subway to Central Park and just go for a walk.

When we got there we were in the middle of a Woman's Half Marathon.  It was amazing.
Seeing all these women running and supporting complete strangers on their quest to the finish line.
They had music blasting... a beautiful course - finishing and ending in Central Park!

My mom looked at me and said " You should run this next year!"
Hmmmm... do I ever need an excuse to take a trip to NYC.
No but it should would be a good excuse!

What are your thoughts...
