Harth

Every year for our anniversary we are normally on our May Trip,
not so much with a almost 3 month old this year.
So we decided to make a real date night and get my parents to watch Collin over night while we went out for dinner and a night to ourselves- which was very very needed.
We opted to try a new restaurant because we like to try at least 1-2 a year and this year we have not been eating out as much with a new baby.
We picked Harth because it was on the Top 50 NOVA Restaurants, it was not too pricey (we are on a new baby budget), and it was close- we did not feel like driving in to Alexandra or really far away.

Harth is in Tyson's Corner- actually located in the Hilton.
We made reservation for 7 pm- I forgot how much I hated going to Tysons!
I hate traffic.
But we did see a Bat mobile Limo...

The Restaurant is nice and very modern, we were surprised that it was not crowed- though more people started to arrive around 8 pm.
We order cocktails and were brought bread with this delicious bacon jelly.
OMG- I am not a bacon person but my husband is- he was ready to eat it by the spoon.
Very good.

We opted to start with a flatbread for an appetizer.
We chose the Mushroom flatbread which has mushrooms, and caramelized onions.
Very good and just the right size- this picture is one of 4 pieces.

For our entree I went with a Lemon and artichoke Risotto which was amazing and I would get it again.
It was a good portion size, Joe actually finished it for me.

Joe stayed with his bacon them and went with the Pork Belly.
Good but not the most amazing he has ever had.

For dessert we decided to split the chocolate brownie that had marshmallow filling.
Yes I have a love for everything chocolate and cupcakes so this was a no brainer.
It was very good but a little on the big side- we could not finish it all.

The thing that I did really like was that we were not rushed at all- we were there for 2 hours and it was a very laid back atmosphere.  It was a good dinner, not the most amazing one we have ever had but good.  Both Joe and I do not think we would go back for dinner- they do have a cute patio area so if we went back it would be to do their small plate menu with drinks.  There drinks were very very good.
All and all it was a good anniversary dinner and a successful first night with out Collin.
My parents were awesome and sent us text picture updates of how he was doing.
We were in bed by 11 and slept until 9:30 which we really needed!

Re-creating Mother's Day

So as I mentioned Mother's Day in our house was a little crazy.
That being said when we got into bed on Sunday night, Joe asked how I felt about a do-over.
My husband knows me too well.
There were really three things I wanted for Mother's Day
1) To take a walk with all my boys
2) To get to have snuggle time with Collin in bed in the morning
3) To spend time with Joe, Collin, and Clemson- I know this seems silly but I feel like we are always going and Joe is always working on school work.

So the following weekend, Joe re-created Mother's Day for me.
Basically a laid back day that just involved spending time together.
It started out with snuggle time in the morning.

Then letting me run, followed by a nice day at home and outside.

I got to hold Collin whenever- I know this sound silly but after a weekend of everyone else holding him, it was totally nice.

Joe made us a low key dinner and we broke out our Greece wine that we had been saving.
He made a sausage mushroom risotto- OMG!

It was the perfect day because it was nothing special- just time together which is all anyone can really want for Mother's Day!
Thanks boys....
